General Information

The Beaver Tale, PCC’s award winning broadsheet newspaper, is published monthly during the spring and fall semesters by students from all academic disciplines. Staff members are able to utilize their skills while learning the basics of contemporary newspaper production and management including newswriting, reporting, photography, editing, design, electronic publishing, advertising sales, illustrations, and circulation. Staff members develop responsible attitudes toward meeting deadlines, time management and working with others, as well as improve their journalism skills. Staff members make all content decisions and are able to serve as writers, photographers, designers, advertising salesmen or illustrators. In addition to strengthening their resumes and portfolios, staff members receive up to 3 hours of college credit and are able to serve in leadership positions such as editor in chief, photography editor and advertising manager.
Content emphasis is placed on world, local and campus news, as well as features concerning college students. Newspaper sections include opinion, sports, student life, entertainment and news. Ten issues of the newspaper are published each year. It is distributed to on campus, in the Pratt community and via the internet.
